Best Sleeping Positions for Optimal Health

DID YOU KNOW.. Research shows that Sleeping Positions Affect the Quality of our Sleep and can Prevent or help Reduce Back Pain?
The best sleeping positions are the ones that support the natural curve of your spine.

If you have back pain, or want to help prevent it, here are our Top Tips for a good night’s sleep:

1. Sleep on your back with a pillow under your knees, or sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees, which are resting in a comfortable bent position.
These 2 positions will help immensely with back pain as they help stabilise, balance and keep in good alignment the pelvis and support the lumbar spine, lumbar discs and surrounding muscles of the back and pelvis.

2. No matter which position you sleep in, use a pillow under your head!!
Make sure the pillow lies under your head and neck but not under your shoulders. The pillow thickness should ensure that your head is level with your spine. Avoid sleeping on your front if you can, especially if you suffer from neck pain and stiffness or suffer from headaches.

3. When getting out of bed in the morning, roll to your side facing the outside of the bed, then with your top hand, push yourself to a sitting position as you swing your legs over the side of the bed. Activating your core stomach muscles will help support and stabilise your lower back and spine as well.

This is extremely beneficial if you have back pain, pelvic instability, hip pain, or may be pregnant.
